If you’re like most people, there’s hardly a day that goes by without getting a credit card offer in the mail. This is irritating for many reasons, not only do you not need these offers, it’s also horrible for the environment.

Fortunately, there’s a way to curtail the onslaught of credit card offers. There’s a way to opt-out of these mailing and you may be surprised by who is offering the opt-out service. The service is being offered by the Consumer Credit Reporting Industry.

You can opt-out (or opt-in) at OptOutPrescreen.com. Their website provides the following request that can be made.

  • Opt-Out from receiving Firm Offers for Five Years – (electronically through this website).
  • Opt-Out from receiving Firm Offers permanently – (mail Permanent Opt-Out Election form available through this website).
  • Opt-In and be eligible to receive Firm Offers. This option is for consumers who have previously completed an Opt-Out request – (electronically through this website).

Choosing to opt-out will take your name off of offer lists that are provided by consumer credit reporting companies.
